About This Call

A Foot Forward: Art Knows No Boundaries is a group exhibition featuring diverse artwork from 100 local and international artists, highlighting the intersection of design, innovation, and cultural exchange. The exhibition aims to highlight the diverse talents of artists from Coronado, San Diego County, and Tijuana, while nurturing meaningful connections and fostering understanding across demographic boundaries. By providing a platform for artists of all backgrounds to collaborate and share their stories, the exhibition aims to amplify diverse voices that may not always receive prominence in traditional art spaces. Through the universal language of art, viewers are invited to engage with narratives that challenge stereotypes, promote inclusivity, foster empathy and solidarity.

Artists are invited to apply by submitting three or four images of their artwork. Upon selection, artists will be tasked with producing their interpretation of the show's theme on a 12 x 12 inch canvas. Artwork can be created using any medium, including painting, drawing, photography, digital art, or mixed media. Each artwork should not be framed and will be hung using pins. There is a limited number of spaces for heavier pieces that conform to the 12 x 12 inch requirement. Eligibility is open to all 18+ artists residing in San Diego County and the Tijuana region. Entry fee is $15 (non-refundable). The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2024. Applicants will be notified on or before July 3, 2024 of acceptance. All completed artwork must be delivered to Coronado City Hall by September 20, 2024. The exhibition will be on view September 29, 2024 through January 31, 2025 at the C3 Gallery in the Coronado Community Center. An opening reception will be held on August 10, 2024. For questions, contact [email protected] or Arts Administrator Kelly Purvis at 619-522-2633.
