A Fall of Rain

The Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts is accepting entries for "A Fall of Rain," a photography exhibition exploring the theme of precipitation and its regenerative and destructive powers. The call is open to all styles and photographic processes. Whether gloomy or relaxing, rainy atmosphere elicits an emotional response. Distorting the world through reflections, splatters, and color shifts, rain can transform our surroundings in ways both magical and disastrous. Spring showers wash away the snow and grime of winter, shifting into summer thunderstorms. From gentle drizzle to treacherous hurricanes and monsoons, submissions should explore the regenerative and destructive powers of precipitation.

The exhibition will be juried by Kat Kiernan, Editor-in-Chief of the photography magazine Don't Take Pictures. Artists of all levels who are at least 18 years or older are invited to enter. Work must be original creations in any photographic process or technology, current or historical, and must be exhibition ready. Maximum size is 48" including the frame. Artists may submit up to 15 photographs. Entry fee is $35 for the first three images and $10 for each subsequent image. Current RICPA Members receive a 20% discount on the entry fee. Awards: First Place $250, Second Place $150, Third Place $100.

Exhibition dates: Thursday, August 19th through Friday, September 10th, 2021. Reception and Awards: August 19th, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Delivery of accepted work is on or before August 14th. In-person deliveries accepted August 14th, noon to 5:30 p.m. or by appointment at 118 North Main Street, Providence, RI (2nd Floor).
