About This Call
A Culture of Images is an exhibition of contemporary photography running July 8-30, 2016 in the M. G. Nelson Family Gallery at the Springfield Art Association in Springfield, Illinois. A three-person jury will select work to be exhibited, with the intent to feature a variety of photographic tools and approaches as well as commentary on our photographic/image saturated culture.
Submissions must include 1-3 images. The entry fee is $20.00. The application deadline is May 2, 2016, with notification on May 10. Work must be delivered to the SAA by July 1 and be installation ready. Shipped work must be sent in sturdy, reusable containers with prepaid return shipping. Hand-delivered work is accepted Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. Work is insured while in the SAA's possession; insurance during transit is the artist's responsibility. Work need not be for sale, but if offered for sale, the SAA retains a 35% sales commission.
An opening reception will be held Friday, July 8, 5:30-7:30pm with an awards ceremony at 6:30pm. A minimum of $600 in cash prizes will be awarded.
