About This Call

A Blessing Of Animals is an international sculpture exhibition open to all sculptors. Sculptures may be in any permanent medium suitable for outdoor installation and must be in keeping with the "animal" theme of the show. Works may not be smaller than 3 feet or larger than 12 feet.

The exhibition will be installed at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in Manhattan (June 5-9, 2017 installation; September 10, 2017 closing) and subsequently at Naples Botanical Garden in Naples, Florida (October 1, 2017 opening; January 31, 2018 closing). The Cathedral's central nave measures 48 feet by 210 feet. The Jury of Selection includes Robin R. Salmon (Chairperson and Curator of Collections at Brookgreen Gardens), Greg Wyatt (FNSS and Sculptor in Residence, Cathedral of Saint John the Divine), and Sandy Scott (FNSS).

Entry fee is $50.00 for non-NSS members; NSS members with paid dues do not pay a processing fee. Submissions must include 1-6 images with up to three works submitted, showing two views of each piece. Sculptors must provide name, address, title, date, medium, dimensions (height including base, base width and depth), weight, and retail price. Accepted sculptors will be asked to sign a contract with the National Sculpture Society and Naples Botanical Garden. NSS will pay for installation, de-installation, and all or a portion of shipping costs to the NYC exhibition. NBG will pay for installation, de-installation, and all or a portion of shipping costs to and from NBG. Works will be insured on site at both locations. Insurance for transit to NYC is optional and the responsibility of the individual sculptor. An opening reception will be held in June 2017 during National Sculpture Society's Sculpture Conference Weekend; artists are expected to pay their own travel and lodging costs. A 30% commission will be charged on all sales executed while the show is installed at NBG.
