9th Annual Drawing Discourse Exhibition

UNC Asheville invites artists to submit entries to a Juried International Exhibition of contemporary drawing. The exhibition seeks to examine drawing as it is practiced and defined by today's artists, demonstrating the continued significance of drawing through both conventional and innovative methods. Accepted work will be exhibited in UNC Asheville's S. Tucker Cooke Gallery from January 19, 2018 through February 23, 2018. Esteemed juror Stuart Shils will open the exhibition with a lecture on January 19, 2018, followed by an opening reception.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years of age or older. All work must be original, completed in the past two years, and cannot have been previously exhibited at UNC Asheville. Media is open to any traditional or experimental drawing media, welcoming both two and three-dimensional works, video, or installation. Work must fit through a standard set of double doors with a 10'6" ceiling height and up to 36' for both floor and wall space. Submissions are accepted only via CaFÉ at callforentry.org. Entry fee is $30 for the first image; each additional image is $5 (limit 6 images total, $55 maximum). Notification of juror's results will be sent by December 11, 2017.

Accepted works must arrive ready to install between January 8-12, 2018 and must remain on display for the entire exhibition. Work should not exceed 100lbs. A full color catalogue will be printed, and each accepted artist will receive one complimentary copy. $2,000 in cash prizes will be awarded during the opening reception.
