About This Call
River Oaks Square Arts Center is seeking ceramic vessels (mugs, cups, yunomis) for its 9th Annual Dirty South Cup Call & Competition, a national juried exhibition. Up to 125 artists will be chosen to display traditional or non-traditional ceramic vessels at the gallery in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Eligibility and Requirements: Open to all artists working in clay and residing in the United States. Each artist may submit up to three works. Work must not exceed 7" x 7" x 7" and must be for sale with no single piece exceeding $250 in value. Entries are blind juried by digital images submitted in JPEG format (5MB maximum), with one image per entry. Entry fee is $15 per artist. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance costs to and from the gallery. Works will be insured for 50% of stated value from delivery through the end of the exhibition. River Oaks retains the right to photograph exhibited work for publicity purposes. Artists will pay a 30% commission on all sales.
Timeline and Awards: Entry deadline is March 4, 2023. Acceptance notification will be sent March 17, 2023, with work delivery due by March 30, 2023. The exhibition runs April 13 - May 27, 2023, with an opening reception on April 13 at 5-7 p.m. Awards include First Prize ($500), Dr. Betsy Long's Choice ($200), and three Juror's Choice awards ($100 each). The top 20 artists will be considered for "exhibiting artist" designation in future invitational shows. Guest juror is Gwendolyn Yoppolo, Associate Professor of Ceramics at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
