9th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition

The 9th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition (ANPCE), sponsored by the Allegany Arts Council, is a juried competition offering $6,500 in cash prizes. The exhibition will run from April 1-22, 2023, in the Saville and Schwab Galleries of the Allegany Arts Council in Cumberland, MD. The Public Opening and Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 6-8 PM.

Photographers may enter up to six works in one of three categories: Color (two-dimensional photographic works printed in color on any medium, maximum 48" width); Monochrome/Black and White (two-dimensional photographic works printed in black and white or monochrome on any medium, maximum 48" width); or Photography as Sculpture (three-dimensional installations fundamentally based on photography, maximum 84" height and 48" length and width, not exceeding 40 lbs). All entries must be original, created by the applicant, and available for sale. Entries must not have been previously exhibited in the Allegany Arts Council galleries. For the Photography as Sculpture category, artists must submit a video under 5MB showing multiple views of the installation and written commentary describing it.

The 2023 juror is Todd J. Tubutis, Director and Curator of the Art Museum at West Virginia University. Entry deadline is February 10, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. MST. Entry fee is $30.00 plus a $15.00 media fee. Applicants must submit a minimum of 2 and maximum of 12 work samples (2-6 images and 0-6 videos). The competition is open to photographers nationwide.
