About This Call
The American Artists Professional League (AAPL) invites artists to submit work for the 96th Grand National Exhibition. Open to artists at least 18 years old who live or work in the United States and territories. Only Realist and Representational works will be considered. Membership in AAPL is not required. Work must have been completed after January 1, 2019, and cannot have been exhibited in any previous AAPL online or gallery show.
Accepted mediums include oil, acrylic, water media, pastel, drawing, graphics, and sculpture. Prints including woodblocks, linocuts, etchings, monotypes, and engravings are considered. Giclées, photographs, mechanical prints, and digital artwork are not accepted. Sculptures may not exceed 36 inches in height and 40 lbs. Framed work may not exceed 50 inches wide. Up to three works may be submitted per artist, but only one work per artist will be accepted. Entry fees are $45 for AAPL members (first entry) and $25 for each additional entry; non-members pay $70 for the first entry and $40 for each additional entry. All art must remain in the gallery for the full exhibition duration (October 28–November 15, 2024). Work withdrawn after acceptance will disqualify the artist from exhibiting at the Grand National for 2 years.
Submissions are made through ShowSubmit.com and must include high-quality JPEG images at least 1920 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images should show only the artwork without matting, frames, or background. Entries are reviewed and scored by the AAPL Board of Directors and guest jurors based on quality, mastery of medium, composition, design, and emotional impact. Selected works will be displayed on AAPLinc.org and listed in the AAPL Artwork Store if for sale. For questions about the prospectus, eligibility, or artwork requirements, contact Alex Tibar at [email protected].
