About This Call
The Swope Art Museum invites visual artists residing in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee to submit original artwork for the 82nd Wabash Valley Exhibition. The exhibition runs October 2, 2026 – January 10, 2027.
Eligibility: Open to current or former residents of the six-state region. Artwork must be completed within the last two years (2024–2026) and have not been previously exhibited at the Swope Art Museum. Accepted media include painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and new media. Over $10,000 in prizes are awarded annually: Grand Prize $1,000+, Awards of Excellence $750, Awards of Distinction $500, Awards of Honor $250, and Awards of Recognition $100. Purchase awards are given to works for sale only. Awards will be announced during the opening reception on Friday, October 2, 2026, 5-8 PM. The juror is Mark Pascale, Janet and Craig Duchossois Curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings at The Art Institute of Chicago.
Entry deadline: July 10, 2026 by 11:59 pm MST. Entry opens May 11, 2026. Museum Members: Free entry for up to 5 artworks. Non-Members: $40 for up to 5 artworks. Entry fees are non-refundable. Notifications of acceptance will be emailed and posted in your ShowSubmit account by July 24, 2026. Accepted entries must be received by August 14. Ship to: Swope Art Museum, 25 South 7th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807. By-hand deliveries must be made during museum hours (Noon–4 PM, Tuesday–Sunday). Artwork specifications: 2D works maximum 6' in any direction; 3D works maximum 6' x 3' x 2' or up to 25 pieces with no individual component exceeding 6' and total weight not exceeding 100 lbs. Digital media must be .MP4 format, 1920 x 1080 pixels on USB drive. Submit high-quality JPEG images at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge, maximum 30 MB file size. Include one image for 2D works and two views for 3D works. The Museum will take a 30% commission on sales and 10% commission on purchase awards. All works will be insured by the Museum while on display for their estimated value.
