About This Call
The 82nd Annual Awards Exhibition is open to all sculptors. Work that is inspired by nature, figurative, or realist sculpture is preferred. All entries are subject to jury and will be juried anonymously from electronically submitted images. Works previously exhibited in an Annual NSS Exhibition are ineligible.
Works must have been created within the last 5 years and may be in any permanent medium. Terracotta and plaster works will be considered, but artists assume all responsibility for proper packaging and shipping. Works of all sizes will be considered, including reliefs and medals. Sculptors may submit up to 3 works (up to 2 views per work) for a maximum of 6 images. The entry fee is $40 (non-refundable). Sculptors must provide their name, address, title of sculpture, date, medium, dimensions (height including base, base width and depth), and price of work if for sale.
The Jury of Selection will notify all sculptors by email by June 22 whether their work was chosen. Accepted artists will have images of their work projected during NSS' Sculpture Celebration Conference, June 26-28, in Philadelphia, PA. The exhibition opens August 8 at Brookgreen Gardens and closes October 31, with a closing reception on Saturday, October 31st. A Jury of Awards will meet after the exhibition is installed, and a People's Choice Award will be presented at the closing reception. All works must be shipped at the sculptor's expense to Coastal Transfer & Storage, 3250 South Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440, arriving by July 31. Works must be properly crated with screws for easy opening and closing; cardboard boxes are not accepted. At the conclusion of the exhibition, all works will be re-crated and stored at Coastal Transfer & Storage. Artists must pick up or arrange shipment of their work by the end of November or storage fees will be charged. No works shall be removed from the exhibition prior to Monday, November 2nd. Insurance for works in transit is optional and the responsibility of the individual sculptor. Sculptures accepted in the exhibition are not required to be available for sale. A commission of 25% will be charged on all sales, with a courtesy 10% discount given to Patron Members.
