About This Call
The Center for Contemporary Printmaking's 7th Biennial FOOTPRINT International Competition is an opportunity for the presentation of current trends and innovations in contemporary printmaking within a one square foot (12" x 12") configuration. The square format presents distinct challenges of composition and expression, requiring artists to confront a space and create visual order and formal structure.
All fine-art printmaking mediums are eligible, including woodcut, intaglio, lithography, screenprint, monotype, and original digital media. No drawings, photographs, or direct reproductions are eligible. Art must be hand-pulled and generated using at least one traditional printmaking method. Computer-generated art is eligible only if it incorporates other methods of hand-pulled printing or handwork. Image size must be exactly 12 x 12 inches (30.5 x 30.5 cm), with paper size no larger than 18 x 18 inches (45.7 x 45.7 cm). Only two-dimensional works will be accepted. Each artist may submit up to two prints. The submission fee is $40 for up to two entries; CCP members receive a 50% discount. Accepted artists will be notified by July 10, 2020. The exhibition runs September 13 – November 22, 2020. $1,000 in cash prizes and purchase awards will be awarded. The juror is Jane Kinsman, Distinguished Adjunct Curator, previously Senior Curator of International Prints, Drawings and Illustrated Books, National Gallery of Australia. All prints must be for sale, with CCP retaining a 50% commission on works sold. Artists may choose to donate all proceeds to support CCP programs.
