7th Annual PROUD+

PROUD+ is the seventh national exhibition of LGBTQIA+ visual arts running from July 2 - August 3, 2024 at The Studio Door in San Diego, CA. This exhibition has become a San Diego tradition bringing artists from across the nation to celebrate during San Diego Pride Month in July. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and other related community artists (LGBTQIA+) are encouraged to present contemporary works that celebrate the unique sense of pride that this diverse community has. The Studio Door is seeking artwork that expresses authentic, diverse viewpoints from the LGBTQIA+ experience.

Entry fee is $35 for one artwork submission, with an additional $5 media fee for each additional submission (up to 3 total images). Artists may declare preference for "in gallery," "online gallery," or both during the application process. All accepted works are eligible for Best in Show awards. Three artists will receive a Juror's Award certificate and $100 check for artworks that express the most imaginative interpretation of the theme. The juror is Michael Swank, Director of Exhibition and Residency at Art Gallery Studios in Mexico City and producer of Bureau of Queer Artists.

A public reception is scheduled for Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 6 PM - 9 PM. The gallery will have extended hours on July 4, 2024 for the monthly First Thursday Walk in ART. San Diego Pride weekend is scheduled for July 19-21. All artwork must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show. 2-D artwork must arrive gallery ready and ready to hang, preferably in black wood or natural wood frames with plexi only (no glass). Shipped artwork must be received by June 21, 2024. Hand-delivery is available Saturday, June 22 from 11 AM - 5 PM or by appointment. Artwork pickup is August 3 (4-5 PM) or August 6 (11 AM - 5 PM). For sales, 50% goes to the artist and 50% to The Studio Door. Artists are encouraged to price work under $2,500, with $500 being the average first-time patron purchase. All submissions are handled through CAFÉ (Callforentry.org). Artists will be notified by June 2, 2024.
