7th Annual Dirty South Cup Call and Competition

River Oaks Square Arts Center is seeking ceramic vessels (mugs, cups, yunomis) for its 7th Annual Dirty South Cup Call and Competition, a national juried exhibition. Up to 125 artists will be chosen to display traditional or non-traditional ceramic vessels at River Oaks Square Arts Center in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Eligibility and Requirements: Open to all artists working in clay and residing in the United States. Work may not be larger than 7" x 7" x 7". Both functional and non-functional, traditional and non-traditional pieces are accepted. All work must be for sale with no single work exceeding $250 in value. Artists will pay a 30% commission to the gallery on all sales. Entry fee is $15 per artist for up to three entries. Each artist may submit up to four works with one image per entry in JPEG format (5MB maximum). Entries will be blind juried by digital images. Artist is responsible for shipping and insurance costs to and from the gallery; all work must include a return shipping label. Weight limit is 15 lbs. Works will be insured for 50% of stated value from delivery through the end of the exhibition.

Timeline and Awards: Entry deadline is March 6, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Acceptance notification will be sent March 18, 2021. Delivery of work is due no later than 5 p.m. on March 26, 2021. Exhibition dates are April 9 - May 22, 2021. Opening reception and award announcement will be held April 9, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. Artwork will be returned June 18, 2021. Awards include First Prize $500, Dr. Betsy Long's Choice $200, and four Juror's Choice awards of $125 each. The top 20 artists will be considered for "exhibiting artist" designation in future invitational shows hosted by ROSAC. Guest juror is Dan Anderson. A two-day ceramic workshop led by Dan Anderson titled "So you want to create a Drinking Vessel" will be held April 8-9 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. for $95 per person (limited enrollment, first come first served, pre-registration required by calling 318.473.2670).
