7th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition

The 7th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition (ANPCE), sponsored by the Allegany Arts Council, is a juried competition offering more than $5,000 in cash prizes. The exhibition will run from April 3-24, 2021, in the Saville and Schwab Galleries of the Allegany Arts Council in Cumberland, MD. The Public Opening and Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 6-8 PM, with a livestream event featuring the awards presentation available if social gathering is not permitted.

Applicants may enter up to six works across three categories: Color (two-dimensional color photographs, maximum 48" width), Monochrome/Black and White (two-dimensional black and white or monochrome photographs, maximum 48" width), and Photography as Sculpture (three-dimensional works fundamentally based on photography, maximum 48" in any dimension, maximum 30 lbs). All entries must be for sale, completed within the past three years, and not previously exhibited in the Allegany Arts Council galleries. The minimum entry fee is $30 for up to two works; each additional entry is $15. Digital files may not exceed 5MB. The 2021 juror is Audrey Sands, Norton Family Assistant Curator of Photography for the Center for Creative Photography and the Phoenix Art Museum.

Awards include Best in Show ($1,500), Color Category (1st Place $800, 2nd Place $250, 3rd Place $100), Monochrome Category (1st Place $800, 2nd Place $250, 3rd Place $100), and Photography as Sculpture Category (1st Place $1,200, People's Choice $500). Entry deadline is February 12, 2021. Notifications will be sent February 26, 2021. All artwork must be received by March 27, 2021. Pick-up/return is April 27-30, 2021.
