About This Call
The Center for Contemporary Printmaking's Footprint International Competition 2018 is an opportunity for the presentation of current trends and innovations in contemporary printmaking within the bounds of a one square foot (12" x 12") configuration. The square format presents distinct challenges of composition and expression, requiring artists to confront a space and create visual order and formal structure.
All fine-art printmaking mediums are eligible, including woodcut, intaglio, lithography, screenprint, monotype, and original digital media. Art must be hand-pulled and generated using at least one traditional printmaking method. Computer-generated art is eligible only if it incorporates other methods of hand-pulled printing or handwork. Image size must be exactly 12 x 12 inches (30.5 x 30.5 cm), with outside dimensions of printing paper not exceeding 18 x 18 inches (45.7 x 45.7 cm). Only two-dimensional works will be accepted. No drawings, photographs, or direct reproductions are eligible.
Entry fees are $20 for CCP members and $50 for non-members and international submissions. Each additional print submission is $10 per print. Artists may submit up to three prints. Prizes totaling $1,000 in cash prizes and purchase awards will be awarded, plus the Awagami Paper Award of $300 (50 sheets) in editioning paper to one artist. Accepted works must arrive by May 11, 2018. The exhibition runs June 3 – August 26, 2018. Accepted artists will be notified by April 7, 2018. All prints must be for sale, with CCP retaining a 50% commission on works sold. Submissions are accepted only via CaFÉ by March 10, 2018. The juror is Susan Tallman, Editor-in-Chief of Art in Print.
