About This Call
Buttonwood Art Space hosts the 6th Annual Visions of the Flint Hills Art Benefit & Sale, a juried exhibition featuring art depicting or derived from the Flint Hills area of Kansas. The exhibition benefits Friends of the Konza Prairie, which promotes educational research and experiences in the Konza Prairie, an 8,600 acre tallgrass preserve managed by K-State's Division of Biology. The Konza Prairie and surrounding Flint Hills region contain the largest remaining parcels of Tallgrass prairie that once covered 140 million acres in North America.
The exhibition is open to paintings, photographs, fiber and 3-D works derived from or depicting the Flint Hills geographic area in Kansas. Categories include Painting, Photography, 3-D, and Other (flat fiber pieces, drawings, video, and non-traditional media). Artists may submit up to four pieces for a non-refundable $25.00 entry fee. Work samples may include up to 4 images, 2 audio files, and/or 4 video files (minimum 1 sample required). All artwork will be juried on a piece-by-piece basis by juror Kim Casebeer. The exhibition runs October 3 through November 28, 2014, at Buttonwood Art Space, 3013 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri, 64108. All works will be split 50% to the artist and 50% to Friends of Konza Prairie. Artworks must be shipped to the gallery by September 19, 2014, or hand-delivered by September 22, 2014.
