6th Annual Dirty South Cup Call and Competition

River Oaks Square Arts Center is seeking ceramic vessels (mugs, cups, and yunomis) for its 6th Annual Dirty South Cup Call and Competition. Up to 125 artists will be chosen for this national, juried exhibition to display traditional or non-traditional ceramic vessels at River Oaks Square Arts Center in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Eligibility and Requirements: Open to all artists working in clay and residing in the United States. Entry fee is $15 per artist, with up to three entries accepted. Work may not be larger than 7" x 7" x 7". Both functional and non-functional, traditional and non-traditional pieces are accepted. All work must be for sale with no single piece exceeding $250 in value. Artists will pay a 30% commission to the Gallery on all sales. Digital entry only in JPEG format, 5MB maximum, with 1-4 images required. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance costs to and from the Gallery, with a 15 lb weight limit. All work must include a return shipping label.

Awards and Timeline: First Prize is $500, with four Juror's Choice awards of $125 each. The top 20 artists will be considered for "exhibiting artist" designation in future invitational shows. Guest juror is Deborah Schwartzkopf. Acceptance notification is March 19, 2020, with work delivery by March 27, 2020. Exhibition dates are April 3 - May 29, 2020. Opening reception and award announcement is April 3, 2020 at 5-8 p.m. A two-day ceramic workshop with the juror is offered April 2-3 for $95 per person (limited enrollment, pre-registration required by calling 318.473.2670). Works will be insured for 50% of stated value during delivery through the end of the exhibition.
