About This Call
The City of Ocala Cultural Arts Office is seeking entries for the 5th Biennial Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition. Ten works will be selected for a two-year outdoor exhibition in Tuscawilla Park, a 45-acre green space located in downtown Ocala, Florida. The exhibition runs from February 21, 2020 through January 17, 2022.
Awards include Best in Show ($2,000), 2nd Place ($1,000), Honorable Mention ($500), and People's Choice ($500). Each selected artist will receive a $2,000 honorarium to cover transportation, installation, and de-installation. The entry fee is $25.00, and artists may submit up to three different works. Eligibility is open to artists currently working and residing in the United States with experience in outdoor public art.
Submissions must include three professional quality digital images (jpg format, 180ppi) of each work, a professional resume, an artist statement, and a document with specific work information (title, materials, dimensions in feet and inches, weight, and value). Work must have been completed within the last five years and must be capable of withstanding Florida's weather conditions (high humidity, high temperatures, heavy rain, thunderstorms, high winds) while remaining maintenance-free for two years. Sculptures must be installed by January 17, 2020 and cannot be removed prior to January 28, 2022. The City of Ocala will provide installation supervision, equipment, and insurance coverage up to $15,000. Submission deadline is September 13, 2019. Send applications to: 828 NE 8th Ave., Ocala, FL 34474. Contact: [email protected] or 352-629-8447.
