5th Annual Women in Watercolor International Juried Competition

The 5th Annual Women in Watercolor International Juried Competition is an online-only competition for female watercolor artists. Entry is open April 1 through June 22, 2024. Artists may enter up to five paintings, with one entry per category across five categories: Abstract, Animal & Wildlife, Landscape & Water, Portrait & Figure, and Still Life & Floral.

Eligible mediums include transparent and opaque watercolors, casein, gouache, and water-soluble inks on paper, synthetic paper, watercolor board, Yupo, or other two-dimensional surfaces. Work must be original, not previously entered in Women in Watercolor exhibitions, and photo references must be personally photographed by the artist. Acrylic, egg tempera, permanent inks, pastels, colored pencil, collage, and prints are not allowed.

Entry fees are $35 USD for the first entry and $15 USD for each additional entry. Awards include Best in Show ($2,200 USD), First Place in each category ($1,200 USD x5), Second Place ($600 USD x5), Third Place ($300 USD x5), and Judges Favorite ($150 USD x9). Winners will be featured on the Women in Watercolor website and social media, with top winners published in a major watercolor magazine. Award notifications will be sent after July 24, 2024.
