5th Annual MIXMASTER at the Mattatuck Museum

The 5th Annual MIXMASTER is an exhibition open to artists 18 years and over who are current residents of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Vermont. Current Mattatuck Museum membership at any level is required at the time of submission. Original works in all media are accepted, provided they were executed within the past three years and have not been previously exhibited in a Connecticut museum.

Up to three works per artist may be submitted. Entry fee is $10.00 per work, with an additional $10.00 media fee for extra images. Work samples may include up to 3 images, 3 audio files, and/or 3 video files (minimum 1 sample required). Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed, not exceeding 84 inches in any dimension and 75 pounds. Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 48 inches in any dimension and 100 pounds. All work requiring assembly must include detailed installation instructions with reference photos. The Museum prohibits glitter, wet paint, sharp objects, open flames, balloons, sprays, dangerous chemicals, weapons, pressurized containers, plants, animals, hazardous materials, and infested materials.

The exhibition runs January 12 – February 23, 2020, with a reception and awards on January 12 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Juror Richard Michelson, founder of R. Michelson Galleries, will select works. Prizes include: First Prize $500 and a solo show with the museum; Second Prize $300; Third Prize $200; Juror Selection and Visitor's Award each receive upgraded membership to Director's Circle level ($250 value). Selected works must be delivered December 11-27, with a deadline of December 29 for shipped artwork. Pick-up is March 6-11. All delivery and shipping costs are the artist's responsibility. The Museum assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to submitted work; insurance is the artist's responsibility.
