5th Annual Juried International Exhibition of Contemporary Islamic Art

Islamic Art Revival Series (IARS) presents the 5th Annual Juried International Exhibition of Contemporary Islamic Art at the Irving Arts Center in Irving, Texas. The exhibition runs from September 17 to November 13, 2016. Dr. Maryam Ekhtiar, Associate Curator of Islamic Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, serves as juror. An opening reception for artists will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, with guest speaker Louise Mackie, Curator of Islamic Textiles and Art at the Cleveland Museum of Art. IARS produces a full color exhibition catalog. All accepted artwork may be featured on the IARS website for one year after the exhibition ends.

This juried exhibition is open to artists 18 years and older from around the world. All submitted art should be based on or inspired by Islamic art and design, Islamic literature, Islamic architecture, and Islamic cultures, or address current social issues presented in a positive light. Only artwork produced within the last two years (since 2014) will be accepted. Artwork shown in previous IARS juried exhibitions is not eligible. All 2D and 3D art are welcome, including painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, art glass, fiber arts, hand-pulled prints, photographs, small installations, videos, and original digital prints. Giclee prints that are not original will not be considered.

Entry fee is $30.00. Applicants may submit 1-4 total work samples, consisting of up to 4 images and up to 2 videos.
