5th Annual Juried Art Show at the Piedmont Center for the Arts

The 5th Annual Juried Art Show presented by The Piedmont Center for the Arts is a juried art exhibition featuring contemporary 2-dimensional works by Bay Area artists. The exhibition will select 35 pieces from submissions of original art created within the past two years. Jurors are Carin Adams, Associate Curator of Art and Material Culture at the Oakland Museum of California, and Jenny Gheith, Assistant Curator of Painting and Sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Thanks to the John P. Thornborrow Memorial Endowment Fund, total cash awards of $4,000 will be presented during the opening reception, with awards of $2,500 for 1st place, $1,000 for 2nd place, $500 for 3rd place, plus Honorable Mentions.

Eligibility is limited to artists who reside or work within the nine counties of the Greater Bay Area: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. The entry fee is $40. Artists may submit a maximum of three images. All artwork must have been created within the past two years and must be 2-dimensional media, including photography, wall sculpture, fabric, mixed media, printmaking, paintings, and drawings. Work must be able to be hung on a wall with wire (D-rings preferred) and is limited to 48 x 36 inches including frame and may not exceed 30 lbs. Work must be installation-ready with flat D-ring hardware placed 2-4 inches from top, using Plexiglas only (no glass). Photography must be limited edition prints, matted and framed under Plexiglas.

The submission deadline is Monday, November 6, 2017. Selected artists will be notified by Tuesday, December 11, 2017. Artwork drop-off is Tuesday, January 7, 2018 between 4:00-7:00 pm. The exhibition runs Saturday, January 12 – Sunday, February 11, 2018, with gallery viewing every Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon – 3 pm. The opening reception is Friday, January 12, 6:00-8:00 pm. Artwork pick-up is Sunday, February 11, 3:00-5:00 pm. The Piedmont Center for the Arts does not handle sales or provide insurance. A 10% voluntary donation from sales is suggested to support the organization. Artists are encouraged to insure their own work. Participating artists are asked to submit their bio and/or statement by January 7th to be included in the Artist Information Notebook.
