About This Call
The Richardson Civic Art Society (RCAS) invites amateur and professional Texas artists, age 18 and over, to submit work for the 57th Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibition & Sale. The exhibition runs April 27 through May 29, 2023, at the Charles W. Eisemann Center in Richardson, Texas.
Eligibility: Artwork must be original, executed after April 21, 2021 without instructor supervision, and must not be copies of work by other artists or previously accepted in any RCAS Regional Shows. Only two-dimensional art is accepted in the following categories: Oils and water soluble oils/Acrylic on Canvas or Hard Surface; Watercolor Media on Paper (including alcohol ink); Pastels/Graphics (charcoals, pen & ink, colored & graphite pencils, crayons, woodcuts, etchings, hand pulled prints); and Collage/Mixed Media/Digital/Photographic Art. Artwork including nudes, conspicuously religious, or blatant political statements will not be accepted. Artwork must match the submitted image and will be disqualified if substantially different.
Size Requirements: Minimum 8" x 10" plus frame; maximum 42" in either direction. Paintings must be less than 2 inches deep when framed. All work must be dry and professionally framed using D-rings and wire. Watercolor and fragile media must be under Plexiglass (no glass). Gallery-wrapped canvas is acceptable with painted edges and minimum 2 inches thick. Collage build-ups must not exceed 1/4".
Entry Fees: $35 for one piece; $45 for two pieces; $55 for three pieces (limit three total). RCAS members receive a 25% discount. Fees are non-refundable. Submit 1-3 JPEG images (1,200 pixels or greater on longest side, under 5 MB) through callforentry.org by March 10, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.
Awards: Approximately $5,000 in cash awards. Best of Show (Purchase Award) $1,500; Judge's Choice $500; category awards: 1st place $300, 2nd place $250, 3rd place $200. Best of Show artwork becomes permanent property of the City of Richardson. Artists may qualify for up to three awards (one per category).
Delivery: Hand-delivered entries accepted April 24, 2023, 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Eisemann Center. Shipped entries must arrive between April 17-21, 2023. All entries must be picked up May 30, 2023, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. A 20% commission on all sales goes to RCAS. Awards reception held May 7, 2023, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
