About This Call
The Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science presents the 57th Mid-States Art Exhibition, open to artists residing in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, or Tennessee. All work must be original, completed within the last three years, and not previously exhibited in the Mid-States Art Exhibition.
The competition accepts work in the following categories: Painting, Drawing, Prints, Graphic Arts, Collage, Sculpture and Mixed Media. Photography is not accepted. Entries must not exceed 96 inches in any direction and/or 150 pounds. Large sculpture should be weatherproofed for outdoor display. No entry that requires the artist to be present for moving or assembly will be accepted. The entry fee is $25.00 and entitles entrants to submit up to two entries. Payment may be made by check, money order, or credit card (Visa or Master Card). Checks must be received at the museum no later than September 18th to be eligible for the jurying process.
Works selected for exhibition will be received hand delivered or shipped prepaid from October 13–24, 2014. The exhibition runs December 14, 2014 to March 8, 2015. An Awards Reception will be held on Saturday, December 13, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. CST, with awards presented at this time. Over $10,000 in purchase and merit awards will be presented. Purchase award-winning works will become part of the Evansville Museum's permanent collection. All works accepted for exhibition will be insured while on the premises at a value agreeable to the artist and the Museum, with a maximum insurance value of $1,500.00. Exhibited work may be claimed from March 9–20, 2015. The Museum will not be responsible for work not claimed by March 20, 2015. Shipped work will be returned by FedEx if possible, with all shipping costs and liability for damage the responsibility of the artist. The juror is artist and educator Ephraim Rubenstein.
