About This Call
The 528.0 Regional Juried Printmaking Exhibition is open to artists residing within approximately 528.0 miles of Denver, Colorado. This includes the entire states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, and New Mexico, plus portions of Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Iowa. The exhibition seeks to celebrate the diversity of contemporary printmaking in the western region, highlighting both traditional and alternative printmaking methods. The exhibition will be hosted in the Main Gallery at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Arvada, Colorado, from January 18 - March 24, 2024, and is sponsored by the Invisible Museum in conjunction with Denver's Month of Printmaking.
Eligibility is open to artists over age 18. Submissions must utilize a form of traditional hand-printed media as the primary technique, including monoprint, monotype, screen print, intaglio, photopolymer, photogravure, collagraph, stone or plate lithography, woodcut, linocut, steamroller, letterpress, and book arts. Digital output elements may be included within the greater work. Book arts submissions must contain printed artworks and cannot be blank journals or inkjet-based text blocks. Installation, mixed media, and new media works are encouraged if they include hand-pulled prints and are accompanied by detailed presentation/installation instructions. Artwork composed solely of inkjet, risograph, photocopy, laser engraving, or giclée reproductions will not be accepted. There are no minimum or maximum size limitations.
The non-refundable entry fee is $35 for up to 3 pieces. Limited entrance fee scholarships are available for artists experiencing economic hardship, BIPOC artists, and LGBTQIA+ artists. Work samples may include up to 3 images, 3 audio files, or 3 video files (minimum 1 total sample required). Shipped work must arrive by December 21, 2023, or may be hand-delivered December 21-22, 9:30am-4:30pm. Artists must provide pre-paid return shipping labels. The Arvada Center provides insurance for artworks on premises but is not responsible for damage or loss during transport. If artwork is sold, artists receive 60% of proceeds, with the Arvada Center retaining 20% and the Invisible Museum retaining 20%. Cash awards will be given for Best of Show, 2nd, and 3rd place, with other independent awards possible. For questions regarding eligibility, contact [email protected].
