50th Anniversary Treasury of Art Show and Sale

The Vienna Arts Society invites artists to submit up to three entries for the 50th Anniversary Treasury of Art Show and Sale. Juror Leigh Culver is an art historian, teacher, and painter with a doctorate in Art History from the University of Pennsylvania. She has taught American Art at the University of Notre Dame, worked in curatorial departments at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and in education at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and is currently a faculty member of The Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia.

Accepted media include oil, watercolor, acrylic, collage, mixed media (including fabrics), pastel, drawing, hand-pulled prints, photographs (edition of one only), and sculpture of size and weight easily handled by one person. All entries must be the artist's original work completed within the last three years. Works depicting nudity, violence, weapons, drugs, or drug-related items are not eligible, nor are giclee reproductions or works previously accepted in Treasury of Art shows. All artwork must be clean, suitably framed, and ready to hang with hooks and wire. Watercolors and pastels must be protected by glass or plexiglass. No piece over 48 inches in any direction, including frame, can be accommodated. All work must be for sale. Artists may also bring up to three original, matted, unframed bin pieces (maximum 22"x28") with a minimum selling price of $35 per piece.

Registration deadline is Friday, March 1, 2019. Entry fee is $45 for non-members or $35 for VAS members (up to three pieces). A 25% commission will be charged on all sales. Accepted work from local artists must be delivered to Vienna Community Center gym on Thursday, April 4, 2019, between 10:00 am and noon. Non-local artists' work must be shipped to arrive by March 29, 2019, with prepaid return shipping. The show runs April 5-7, 2019, with an awards reception on Saturday, April 6, 7:00-9:00 pm. Unsold works must be retrieved on Sunday, April 7 between 4:30-5:30 pm. $1,700 in prizes will be awarded, including three cash prizes totaling $900 plus additional merchandise and gift certificates.
