About This Call
The annual Fiber Artists of San Antonio 2022 Art Exhibition will be held November 6 through December 9 at the Kelso Art Center, University of Incarnate Word, San Antonio, TX. The theme, "50 Years of Fiber Art," celebrates the organization's half century history. Fiber artists from across the U.S. are invited to submit work inspired by each decade since the 1970s (the '70s, '80s, '90s, 2000s, and 2010s). The decade chosen as inspiration should be noted on your application.
Fiber is defined as thread or filament such as wool, cotton, gold, asbestos, glass, or rayon, or material made of fibers including paper, fabric, plastic or metal fibers, tapestry, and art cloth. Accepted categories include art quilts, framed fiber art, sculptural pieces, vessels/basketry, paper art forms, art-to-wear garments or accessories, art dolls, woven textiles, mixed media work, and jewelry. Artwork must be original and unsold, cannot exceed 6' x 5' in dimension or weigh more than 15 lbs, and must not be produced from instructor-guided workshops, kits, or published patterns. Submit 1-3 pieces with full and detail images. The exhibition is open to FASA members and non-members; artists are encouraged to submit work made within the past 3 years.
The exhibition will be juried by Paula Owen, president emerita of Southwest School of Art. Awards include First Place ($400), Second Place ($250), Third Place ($150), and Member Excellence Award ($150), to be announced at the opening reception on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Entry fee is $35. Jury dates are September 16-29, 2022.
