About This Call
Providence Center for Photographic Arts (PCPA) seeks exhibition-ready work from established and emerging photographers for its 4th Open Call exhibit, jurored by Julie Grahame, publisher of aCurator.com and the aCurator blog. There is no theme to adhere to. All photo-based images are welcome with no limitation to subject matter or technique. All entries will be reviewed and judged on artistic merit, originality, technical excellence, composition, and overall impact.
Photographers from around the world working in all mediums, styles, and schools of thought are invited to participate. Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome. Artwork must be photography-based and 40 inches or less in height and width (including the frame). Submit artwork created in the last 3 years. Photographers must be age 18 or older. Submit 3 to 8 images as JPG files at highest quality, sRGB color space, 1920 pixels on the longest side, without borders, and file size less than 5 megabytes.
Entry deadline: August 27, 2017, 11:59 pm MDT. Entry fee: $36 for three pieces and $10 for each additional entry (PCPA members $30 for three pieces). Limit of 8 entries per person. Notification of acceptance: September 7, 2017. Exhibit on view: October 12 - November 3, 2017. Opening reception: October 19, 2017, 5:00 to 9:00pm. All work accepted for gallery exhibition must be for sale. PCPA will retain a 40% commission on sales. All photographs must be signed by the artist. $1000 in prizes awarded at the opening reception: Best of show $500, 2nd place $300, 3rd place $200. All work submitted must be printed and framed professionally with either glass or plexi, and be wired with D-rings and ready to hang. Prints on aluminum, wood, or other alternative material are acceptable. Hand delivery: October 6 & 7 from 1 to 4pm. Shipped artwork to arrive on October 6 & 7. A print service is available for distant photographers whose work is accepted; prints are produced by ioLabs at $40 per print in professional 0.75 inch black frames behind glass.
