About This Call
THE CROW SHOW 2018 is the fourth annual exhibition of visual art running from February 2–25, 2018, produced by The Studio Door. The exhibition seeks to represent the many faces of the crow in reality and fantasy through visual art. Creative interpretations of all black birds, ravens, and other Corvus species are acceptable. Show what the crow means to you.
Accepted categories include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist books, ceramics, stoneware, stained glass, and sculpture. Oversized jewelry defined as fine art is acceptable. The show does not accept small jewelry, video, film, performance art, installation, or works requiring an external electrical source. Submissions must be the artist's original work. Entry consists of one to three image submissions. Entry fee is $35 for the initial entry and $5 for each additional work (1 work = $35; 2 works = $40; 3 works = $45). Submission deadline is January 5, 2018 at 11:59 PM MST. Artists must submit complete information and images through CAFÉ.
The juror will select works for exhibition at The Studio Door gallery in San Diego and for an online gallery only. All accepted works are eligible for Best in Show. A Juror's Award certificate will be presented to three works expressing the most imaginative interpretation of the theme, with one designated "Best in Show" for the exhibition catalog cover. All selected artwork will be included in the national exhibition virtual catalog. The opening reception is February 3, 2018 from 6–9 PM. Artwork must remain on exhibit for the duration of the show. Artists will be notified by January 9, 2018. Shipped artwork must be received by January 26, 2018. Hand-delivery is available January 27–28, 2018. Artwork may be picked up February 25 (4–5 PM) or February 27 (noon–7 PM). For works sold, 60% goes to the artist and 40% to The Studio Door. 2-Dimensional work maximum size: 8 feet height, 4 feet width including frame. 3-Dimensional work must fit through an average doorway and not exceed 8 feet in height.
