About This Call
Join a five-day plein air retreat and workshop at Rancho Santa Cruz in Tubac, Arizona, located approximately one hour south of Tucson on the Santa Cruz River in a grove of cottonwood trees. The retreat runs October 25-29, 2021, with an exhibition and sale of artwork created during the retreat at Tubac Center of the Arts Front Gallery from October 29 through November 14.
Three instructors will lead workshops in different mediums: Roberta Rogers will teach watercolor painting focusing on "Secrets of Color" en plein air; Lise Neer of the Colorado Pastel Society will lead a session on "Conveying Light and Motion with Pastels"; and Denyse Fenelon will teach oil painting with "Bold and Vibrant Plein Air." All mediums are welcome, and instruction is geared toward a beginning professional level with some experience recommended. Participants may attend all three sessions regardless of preferred medium and experience level, using their own materials.
The first 16 applicants will be accepted. Entry fee for the exhibition is $22. Retreat cost is $250 and includes all three workshops, receptions, and ranch barbecue, with or without lodging. Optional lodging at Rancho Santa Cruz is $750 for 6 nights with single occupancy and breakfast included. A 30% deposit is due September 1, 2021, with full refund available before October 1st when the balance is due. No refunds will be made after October 1st. Check-in for the retreat is October 24-25, 2021. An opening reception will be held Friday, October 29, 5-7pm. Art pickup is Monday, November 15, 2021. Contact [email protected] or Virginia Vovchuk at 520-339-5220 or Susan Berryman at 386-956-6110 for more information.
