4th Annual Paper + Fiber Show

1202 Contemporary is holding its 4th annual Paper + Fiber show, celebrating textile, fiber, and paper mediums. This exhibition uplifts and supports artists who have worked in these mediums for the majority of their career. The theme this year centers around the figure, which can be interpreted in any way, though priority will be given to works that do not objectify, sexualize, or apply the male gaze to the female figure.

The jury will evaluate each artist's body of work as a whole, their career, and their history of using the materials centered in this exhibition. Selected artists will have 1-3 pieces featured in both the in-person show and the online Artsy show. 1202 Contemporary welcomes all artists who identify as women artists, provided their medium of choice is paper, fiber, or textile, comprising at least 85% of the work. Priority for the in-person show will be given to artists in the Bay Area, but artists from across the globe are welcome to submit. The gallery will choose 20-25 pieces for the in-person show and an additional 10-15 pieces for the Artsy online show.

Artwork can be for sale or not for sale. Commission rates are 20% to the gallery if sold in the gallery or on the website, and 28% if sold on Artsy. The opening reception will be during the Third Friday Art Walk on September 20 from 5-8pm. The exhibition runs September 20 - October 26, 2024. Entry fee is $25. Submit 5-10 images and up to 5 videos. Include a short bio and artist statement with your application.
