About This Call
The 4th Annual MIXMASTER is a regional exhibition open to artists 18 years and over who are current residents of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Vermont. Current Mattatuck Museum membership at any level is required at the time of submission.
Artists may submit up to three works in any media, with a maximum of one work per artist selected for the exhibition. Work must have been executed in the past three years and not previously exhibited in a Connecticut Museum. Entry fee is $10.00 per work, with an additional $10.00 media fee for additional images. Work samples may include up to 3 images, 3 audio files, and/or 3 video files (minimum 1 sample required). Two-dimensional work must be framed and ready for installation with hanging hardware already installed, not exceeding 84 inches in any dimension and 75 pounds. Three-dimensional work cannot exceed 48 inches in any dimension and 100 pounds. All work requiring assembly must be accompanied by detailed installation instructions with reference photos.
The exhibition runs January 20 – February 28, 2019 at Mattatuck Museum, 144 West Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06702. The opening reception and awards ceremony is Sunday, January 20, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Prizes include: First Prize $500 and a solo show in "The Lab" (dates TBD); Second Prize $300; Third Prize $200; Juror Selection and Visitor's Award each receive upgraded membership to Director's Circle membership level ($250 value). The juror is Ashley Dillman, Sales Director of Freight + Volume in New York City. Submissions are accepted only through CaFÉ. Notification of selected works will be sent January 2. Delivery of accepted works is January 4-11, 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with a deadline of January 13 for shipped artwork. Pick-up is March 4-8, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. All costs for delivery, shipping, and return postage are the artist's responsibility. The Museum assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to submitted work; insurance is the artist's responsibility.
