About This Call

Islamic Art Revival Series (IARS) in partnership with LuminArté Gallery presents an international exhibition of contemporary Islamic art. Founded in 2011, IARS is a cross-cultural coalition of business and nonprofit leaders, students and small business owners passionate about sharing the rich cultural relevance of Islamic art as a means of building awareness and exposure to the art itself and enhancing cross-cultural understanding among people from all walks of life. Through Islamic Art events, IARS promotes education in the arts of the Islamic world and encourages vibrant cross-cultural exchange amongst all faiths and cultures.

LuminArté Gallery is located in the Dallas Design District and showcases contemporary award-winning artists as well as emerging talent, representing over fifty artists from more than two dozen countries. The exhibition runs from September 26th to October 31st, 2015. An opening reception for artists will be held at LuminArté Gallery on September 26th, 2015 by invitation only, with a public opening reception on Saturday, October 3rd, 2015. IARS will present lectures by local and international art experts, art workshops, gallery tours and art demonstrations throughout the duration of the exhibition.

This juried exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older from around the world. All art submitted should be based on or inspired by Islamic art and design, Islamic literature, Islamic architecture and Islamic cultures, current social issues and presented in a positive light. All 2D and 3D art are welcome, including painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, art glass, fibre arts, hand pulled prints, photographs and original digital prints. Giclee prints which are not original will not be considered. Submit 1-4 images. Entry fee: $30.00. Entry deadline: July 15th, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Applicants will be informed of the Juror's decision via email on August 2nd, 2015. The juror is Salma Tuqan, Curator of the art of Contemporary Middle East at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Accepted artwork may be featured on the IARS website for one year after the exhibition ends.
