About This Call
The 4th Annual Juried Art Show presented by The Piedmont Center for the Arts is a juried art exhibition featuring contemporary 2-dimensional works by Bay Area artists. The exhibition will showcase 35 pieces selected by guest jurors Carin Adams, Associate Curator of Art and Material Culture at the Oakland Museum of California, and Sarah Roberts, Associate Curator of Painting and Sculpture at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Artists must reside or work within the nine counties of the Greater Bay Area: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. Original artwork created within the past two years is eligible. The entry fee is $40.00, and artists must submit 3 images of their work.
Exhibition dates are January 7–29, 2017, with an opening reception on Friday, January 6, 6-8 pm. Thanks to the John P. Thornborrow Memorial Endowment Fund, total cash awards of $4,000 will be presented to juror-designated award winners during the opening reception. Awards include: 1st place - $2,500, 2nd - $1,000, 3rd - $500, plus Honorable Mentions. The Center does not take a commission for artworks sold through the show, but a 10% voluntary donation is suggested.
Artworks must be 2-dimensional, wall-hung, and installation-ready with wire on the back (D-rings preferred). Maximum dimensions are 36" x 48" including frame, with a maximum weight of 30 lbs. Work must be framed or prepared for hanging with flat D-ring hardware placed 2-4" from top. No glass, wet paintings, or saw-tooth hangers are accepted. Photography must be limited edition prints, matted and framed under Plexiglas. Artwork drop-off is January 3, 5-8 pm. Pickup is January 29, 3-5 pm. The Piedmont Center for the Arts will not insure artwork or handle sales; artists are responsible for their own insurance. Gallery viewing is available every Saturday and Sunday during the show from 12 noon–3 pm.
