49th Annual Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibition

The Rocky Mountain National Watermedia (RMNW) exhibition, in its 49th year, is presented by Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) in Evergreen, Colorado. RMNW attracts entrants and jurors from throughout the United States and is regarded as one of the top watermedia exhibitions in the country. This show traditionally offers more than $10,000 in cash awards. In 2022, the exhibit will be partially supported by a Challenge America grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The 2022 juror is internationally acclaimed painter Soon Warren.

Eligibility is open to all artists residing in the United States. Each artist may enter up to 3 paintings for consideration, though accepted artists will have only 1 original painting hanging in the exhibition. Paintings must be an aqueous medium on watercolor paper, watercolor canvas, or watermedia boards. All works must be at least 90% watermedia (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, water-based inks, or other water-based media). Oil, pastel, and other non-aqueous media are not allowed. Artworks must have been painted in the last two years and may not have been shown previously at Center for the Arts Evergreen. Minimum image size is 8" x 10"; maximum frame size is 40" x 60". No glass is permitted; plexiglas only. All paintings must be available for sale during the exhibition. CAE retains a 40% commission on all art sales.

Submission deadline is May 16, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $40 for 2 images or $50 for 3 images, plus a $10 media fee. Juror selections will be announced June 24, 2022. Exhibition dates are September 23 – October 29, 2022. Opening reception is September 23, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. All accepted artists will receive one complimentary print catalog.
