About This Call
The Brownsville Museum of Fine Art is accepting submissions for the 48th International Art Show, running September 22 - November 3, 2023. All artists 18 and older are welcome to submit original works completed between 2020 and the present. The entry fee is $40.00, and artists may submit 1-3 images for consideration.
Accepted categories include: Painting (oil and acrylic), Drawing (pen, graphite, colored pencil, pastel, charcoal), Water Media (watercolor, gouache, India ink), Mixed Media (including collage), Printmaking (etching, woodcuts, monograph, lithograph, aquatint), Fibers (weaving, embroidery, quilting, macrame, knitting, crocheting), Three-dimensional works (sculpture, installations, jewelry, ceramics), Photography, and Digital Media (digital collage, illustration, photo manipulation, video, animation). All two-dimensional art must be framed with D-rings and/or multistrand metal wire and ready for hanging. Three-dimensional works must be stable and ready for installation.
Works must be original and not previously exhibited in an International Art Show at BMFA. All accepted art must be for sale, and BMFA will retain a 30% commission on any direct sales resulting from the exhibition. By submitting, artists grant permission to BMFA to reproduce accepted artwork for promotional purposes in printed and electronic forms. The juror is Christina Rees, former Senior Texas Editor and Editor-in-Chief at Glasstire, with extensive experience in art criticism and curation.
