About This Call

The Rocky Mountain National Watermedia (RMNW) exhibition, in its 48th year, is presented by Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE) in Evergreen, Colorado. RMNW attracts entrants and jurors from throughout the United States and is regarded as one of the top watermedia exhibitions in the country. The exhibition dates are September 24 – October 30, 2021, with an opening reception on September 24 from 4-7 pm.

Eligibility is open to all artists residing in the United States. Each artist may enter up to 3 paintings for consideration, though accepted artists will have only 1 original painting displayed in the exhibition. Paintings must be an aqueous medium on watercolor papers, watercolor canvas, or watermedia boards, with at least 90% watermedia content. Oil, pastel, and other non-aqueous media are not allowed. Artworks must have been painted in the last two years and may not have been shown previously in any exhibition at CAE or a previous RMNW exhibition. Minimum image size is 8" x 10" and maximum frame size is 40" x 60". No glass is permitted; plexiglas only. All paintings must be available for sale during the exhibition, with CAE retaining a 40% commission on sales.

Entry fee is $40 with an additional $10 media fee. Submission deadline is May 17, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Juror selections will be announced June 25, 2021. The 2021 juror is Steve Griggs, an internationally acclaimed painter. Two master workshops will be offered: one with Steve Griggs on October 15-16, 2021, and one with 2020 juror Linda Baker on July 19-22, 2021, both available in-person and via Zoom. Awards totaling over $9,200 in cash and merchandise were distributed in 2020; the 2021 Best in Show Award (Dr. David Schnarch Memorial Award) is $2,500. For questions, contact [email protected].
