48th Annual International Watermedia Exhibition

The Watercolor Art Society - Houston presents its 48th Annual International Watermedia Exhibition, featuring $10,000 in cash awards including 1st Place ($2,500), 2nd Place ($2,000), 3rd Place ($1,500), ten Merit Awards of $150 each, and special awards including the Odette Rubin Memorial Award ($1,000). The exhibition runs March 4-29, 2025, with juror and judge Stephen Zhang, an accomplished water media artist and design professor whose work has received recognition from prestigious exhibitions including the American Watercolor Society and Watercolor USA.

Artists may submit up to three works for $40 (first entry) plus $15 for each additional entry, with Gold Level WAS-H members entering for free. Artwork must be at least 80% aqueous media including watercolor, acrylic, gouache, egg tempera, casein, ink, and metallic water-based paints, completed on or after January 1, 2023. Works must be original, created without instruction, and measure between 9-44 inches on any side. Acceptable surfaces include watercolor paper, Yupo, Gessobord, and Aquabord.

Selected artists will be notified January 31, 2025, and must ship artwork to Houston by February 27, 2025. The exhibition includes both gallery and online components, with handling fees of $25 for hand-delivered work or $50 for shipped work. WAS-H Signature and Elite Signature Status are available to members whose works are selected for multiple years' participation in the International Watermedia Exhibition.
