About This Call
The 48th Annual Festival of the Arts is a juried exhibition open to artists over age 16. Artists may submit up to 5 pieces in any medium. All artwork must be originally created by the submitting artist and completed within the past 3 years. Work must not have been previously exhibited in a North River Arts exhibition (except the Festival Poster Exhibit). Giclees and artwork created during workshops or classes are not eligible. Artwork, including frame, must not exceed 44" in width or height. Up to two pieces per artist may be selected by the jury to hang in the exhibit.
Awards include Best in Show ($500 plus ribbon), twelve 1st Place Prizes ($150 plus ribbon) in various media categories, Awards of Distinction with cash awards ranging from $100-$300, and Honorable Mention ribbons. Named memorial awards include the Mac Haran Memorial Award for Artistic Excellence ($300), Jane Collins Memorial Award for Landscape Painting ($150), and awards for specific media and themes such as soft pastel, composition, color, floral composition, landscape, nautical photography, impressionism, and expressive creativity. Jurors include Peter Alpers and John Ruffo (Fine Art) and David Black (Photography).
Submissions must be high-quality JPEG files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images should show only the artwork itself without matting, frames, or background. Entry fees are non-refundable and must be paid by the deadline. Entries may be edited until the deadline. Accepted artists will receive delivery information at the time of acceptance notification. For questions about the prospectus, eligibility, artwork requirements, or other details, contact Julia Driscoll at [email protected].
