47th International Watermedia Exhibition

The 47th Annual International Watermedia Exhibition (IWE) showcases excellence of artists from around the world in a gallery exhibit in Houston's Museum District. Entries selected by juror and judge Vladislav Yeliseyev will be featured in a month-long gallery exhibit (March 3-31, 2024) as well as an online exhibit lasting through the end of the year. Participants have the opportunity to win awards totaling $10,000, including 1st Place ($2,500), 2nd Place ($2,000), 3rd Place ($1,500), and named awards including the Odette Rubin Memorial Award ($1,000), Margaret Bock Award ($500), Jack Bowen Award ($500), ET Kraycirik Award ($500), and ten Merit Awards of $150 each. Selected artists may also earn Signature or Elite Signature status designations.

Eligibility is open to international artists 18 years and older. Artwork must be original watermedia (at least 80% watercolor, acrylic, gouache, egg tempera, casein, or ink) created within 24 months of the entry deadline. Works must be on paper, Yupo, Claybord, Aquabord, gesso board, or paper-based board, with minimum size of 9 inches on any side (measured inside mat window) and maximum framed size of 48 inches in any direction. Artwork must be matted and framed in plain, simple frames (wood or metal in black, brown, white, gold, or silver) with true white mats and protected by Plexiglass. Up to three entries per artist may be submitted; only one entry per artist may be selected. Entry fees are $40 for one entry, $55 for two entries, or $70 for three entries (WAS-H Gold Level members enter free). Notifications of selection will be sent January 31, 2024, with an acceptance deadline of February 10, 2024. Shipping period is February 13-28, 2024, with delivery deadline of February 28, 2024. Gallery reception is March 3, 2024 at 3:30 pm CST.
