46th GWS Member Juried Exhibition

The Georgia Watercolor Society invites members to submit work for the 46th Member Juried Exhibition. The juror is Russell Jewell. First prize awards range from $1,000 to $3,000 in cash. Entry fee is $35 for members for up to three images.

All work must be original and completed after April 1, 2023. Allowed water media include watercolor, casein, gouache, egg tempera, water-soluble ink, acrylic, and batik using watermedia on paper. Allowed surfaces include paper, Yupo, Claybord, rice paper, watercolor canvas, and Tyvek. Preprinted or computer-generated images are not accepted. Work previously exhibited in any GWS show is not accepted. Submitted artwork may not be a copy, likeness, or direct derivative of another person's creative work or the artist's previously juried and published work.

Paintings must be framed in wood or metal (gold, silver, black, brown, white, or natural wood tones) with frames no wider than 3 inches. Plexiglass must be used instead of glass. Maximum frame size may not exceed 40 inches in either direction. Image size displayed within the mat must be no smaller than 80 square inches with no side smaller than 8 inches. Mats must be white or variations of white in untextured paper with a single opening. Diptychs and triptychs are not accepted. Shipped work must arrive between July 30 and August 1, 2025. Hand-delivered paintings must arrive on Saturday, August 2, 2025 between 11 am and 2 pm at Gilmer Arts, 207 Dalton Street, Ellijay, GA 30540. The exhibition opens August 12 and closes September 26. Pick-up is Saturday, September 27, 2025 between 11 am and 2 pm. A 40% commission applies to all sales, with 30% going to Gilmer Arts and 10% to GWS.
