About This Call
The 45th Annual Whitewater Valley Art Competition invites artists to submit original work across all visual art mediums except video and sound. Acceptable mediums include paintings, drawings, printmaking, digital artworks, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, textiles, installation, and mixed media.
Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years or older and reside in Indiana or adjacent states of Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, or Michigan. All work must be original and cannot have been exhibited in previous Whitewater Valley Art Competitions. The entry fee is $35 for up to 3 entries. Artists may submit up to 3 separate art pieces or three different views of each piece. Submit 1-9 images via www.callforentry.org by September 10, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
Awards: $4,000 total award money includes 1st Place $2,000 with a 2023 Solo Exhibition Invitation, 2nd Place $1,000, 3rd Place $500, and two Honorable Mentions of $250 each. A Chancellor's Choice Purchase Award will be included in the Indiana University East Public Art Collection. Award winners receive additional special promotion. Jurors are Dawn Holder (Associate Professor, Indiana University Indianapolis Herron School of Art + Design), Jacinda Russell (Associate Professor, Ball State University), and Erin Holscher Almazan (Professor of Printmaking and Drawing, University of Dayton).
Juried rounds will be held September 22, 2023 at 10am-12:30pm via pre-recorded and live-streamed video on Facebook Live. Accepted entries must be postmarked or received by September 29, 2023. The artist's reception and awards presentation is October 13, 2023 at 6-8 p.m. The exhibition runs October 13 – December 15, 2023 in the Tom Thomas Gallery and Meijer Artway. All 2D and 3D wall-mounted work must be professionally framed and ready to hang, not exceeding 60 inches in any direction. Works are insured during exhibition.
