44th Georgia Watercolor Society National Juried Exhibition

Georgia Watercolor Society is accepting submissions for its 44th National Juried Exhibition, juried by John Salminen. All paintings must be original work using water-soluble media. The in-person exhibition will be held at the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association and Art Center (BRMAA) in Blue Ridge, Georgia, located 90 minutes from Atlanta. This competition is open to all artists 17 years of age and older residing in the U.S. Anticipated awards total $10,000.

Allowed water media include watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, and egg tempera. Collage is accepted only if all elements were made using water media and created by the artist. Work previously exhibited in any GWS show is not eligible. All work must have been completed after January 2021. Image size displayed within the mat must be no smaller than 80 square inches, with no side smaller than 8 inches. Paintings must be framed in wood or metal (gold, silver, black, brown, white, or natural wood tones) with plain, unadorned frames not exceeding 3" in width. Plexiglass must be used—no glass. Maximum frame size may not exceed 48" in either direction. Mats and liners must be white or variations of white with one single opening.

Entry fee is $60.00. Submissions must include 1-3 images. Selected artists will be notified February 8th. Shipped artwork must arrive March 22-24, 2023. Exhibition opens April 5 and closes May 19. A John Salminen Workshop runs April 5-7, with a demo and award ceremony on April 8. There is a 40% commission on all sales (30% to BRMAA, 10% to GWS). GWS members receive a $25 discount on entry and $50 discount on the workshop.
