About This Call
The 44th Annual Whitewater Valley Art Competition invites artists to submit original work across all visual art mediums except video and sound. Acceptable mediums include paintings, drawings, printmaking, digital artworks, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, textiles, installation, and mixed media.
Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years or older and reside in Indiana or adjacent states of Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, or Michigan. All work must be original and cannot have been exhibited in previous Whitewater Valley Art Competitions. The entry fee is $30 for up to 3 entries. Artists may submit up to three different views of each art piece; submitting more than 3 separate pieces will result in elimination from consideration.
Awards: $4,000 total award money includes 1st Place $2,000 plus a 2023 Solo Exhibition Invitation, 2nd Place $1,000, 3rd Place $500, and two Honorable Mentions of $250 each. The Chancellor's Choice Purchase Award winner's work will be included in the Indiana University East Public Art Collection. Award winners receive additional special promotion. Jurors are Elizabeth M. Claffey (Associate Professor of Photography at Indiana University), Shaun Thomas Dingwerth (Executive Director of Richmond Art Museum), and Michael Goodson (Chief Curator and Director of Programming at The Contemporary Dayton).
Key Dates: Submission deadline is September 18, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT via www.callforentry.org. Juried rounds will be shared September 30, 2022. Accepted entries must be received by October 7, 2022. The artist's reception and awards presentation is October 14, 2022 at 6-8 p.m. The exhibition runs October 14 – December 16, 2022 in Tom Thomas Gallery and Meijer Artway. Artwork collection/return shipping occurs December 19-23, 2022.
All 2D and 3D wall-mounted work must be professionally framed, firmly wired, and ready to hang. Works are insured during exhibition. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and insurance during transit. Contact Art Director Carrie Longley at [email protected] with questions.
