44th Annual Michigan Fine Arts Competition

The Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center invites artists 18 and older living and working in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin to submit original works in all media (except video or canvas/gallery-wrapped copies) created and/or finished after January 1, 2024. Works must not have been previously exhibited at the BBAC. The entry fee is $40 (non-refundable), and artists may submit up to two entries with one image per work. Images should not include the artist's name or borders, and artists must provide specific details about their materials and techniques.

The application deadline is May 14, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Juror results will be posted on the BBAC website by May 30, with accepted artwork intake scheduled for June 9-13, 10 AM–4 PM. The exhibition opens June 20 and closes August 14. Award notification will be sent by email on June 19. All artwork must be original work by the artist, properly wired for hanging (2D work), and available for the entire exhibition period. The maximum artwork height is 9 feet. A 45% commission is retained by the BBAC on all sales. Work not picked up by 4 PM on August 16 will incur late charges of $10/day, and artwork not collected within 90 days will become property of the BBAC. The juror is Laurie Ann Farrell, a curator and art historian based in Dallas, TX, and former head of modern and contemporary art at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
