43rd Georgia Watercolor Society National Exhibition

Georgia Watercolor Society is accepting submissions for its 43rd Juried National Exhibition with anticipated $10,000 in awards. The juror is Mark Mehaffey. This in-person exhibition will be held at the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation (OCAF) in Watkinsville, Georgia, near Athens. The juried competition is open nationwide to all artists 17 years of age and older; residency in Georgia is not required.

All paintings must be original work using water-soluble media including watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, and egg tempera. Collage is accepted only if all elements were made using water media and created by the artist. Media not allowed include pastels, charcoal, alcohol ink, oil, and water-soluble oil. No preprinted or computer-generated images are permitted. Work previously exhibited in any GWS show is not eligible. All work must have been completed after January 2020. Image size displayed within the mat must be no smaller than 80 square inches, with no side smaller than 8 inches. Paintings must be framed in wood or metal (gold, silver, black, brown, or natural wood tones) with plain, unadorned frames not exceeding 3 inches in width. Plexiglass must be used, not glass. Maximum frame size may not exceed 48 inches in either direction. Mats and liners must be white or variations of white.

Entry fee is $60 for non-members; members receive a $25 discount code. Selected artists will be announced February 22nd. Shipped artwork must arrive at OCAF between April 4-8, 2022, or hand-delivered April 9th between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The exhibition runs April 15 - June 3, 2022, with in-person pick-up June 4th between 1-3 p.m. A 35% commission applies to all sales (25% to OCAF, 10% to GWS). Paintings not for sale must be marked NFS. Neither Georgia Watercolor Society nor OCAF will be responsible for damage or loss; artists are encouraged to carry their own insurance.
