About This Call
The 43rd Annual Whitewater Valley Art Competition invites artists to submit original work for juried consideration. Artists must be 18 years or older and reside in Indiana or adjacent states of Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, or Michigan. All work must be original and cannot have been exhibited in previous Whitewater Valley Art Competitions.
The competition accepts all visual art mediums except video and sound, including paintings, drawings, printmaking, digital artworks, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, textiles, installation, and mixed media. Artists may submit up to 3 separate art pieces, with the option to submit three different views of each piece. The entry fee is $30 for up to 3 entries. Submissions are made via www.callforentry.org, with the deadline of September 12, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fees can be paid by calling the campus Bursar's Office at (765) 973-8345 Monday through Friday between 9am–11am and 1pm–4pm, or by check, cashier's check, or money order sent to Indiana University East, c/o Nate Kuznia, Gallery Coordinator, 2325 Chester Blvd., Richmond, IN 47374, Attn: WVAC.
Awards total over $4,000: 1st place receives $2,000 plus a 2022 Solo Exhibition Invitation; 2nd place receives $1,000; 3rd place receives $500; two Honorable Mention awards of $250 each; and a Purchase Award selected by Chancellor Kathryn Girten for inclusion in the Indiana University East Public Art Collection. Artwork will be publicly juried via Zoom on September 24, 2021 at 10am–12:30pm and shared on Facebook Live. Accepted entries must be received by October 8, 2021 at 5pm. The artists reception and awards presentation will be held October 15, 6–8pm at Tom Thomas Gallery. The exhibition runs October 15–December 10 in Tom Thomas Gallery and Meijer Artway at Indiana University East. By submitting work, artists grant permission to the IU East Art Gallery to reproduce accepted artwork for promotional uses in printed and electronic forms.
