42nd Open Division

This is an open call for members of any IAPS member society to submit original dry pastel artwork. Works must be in dry pastel with no oil pastels; mixed media entries must be predominantly dry pastel. The top layer of the painting should be at least 80% dry application of pastel.

Artwork must be original and created within the last two years. Work done in classroom or workshop scenarios is ineligible. All artwork must be originally drawn and not created on top of any photographic image. Work may not have been accepted in any previous IAPS Exhibitions (this does not include IAPS Member Society shows). Artists are encouraged to submit new and fresh paintings not included in a national show during the last 12 months and without previous awards. Work may be for sale or marked NFS.

Awards include: Best in Show ($2,000), First Place in Honor of Urania Christy Tarbet ($1,000), Second Place in Honor of Maggie Price ($600), Third Place ($400), and four Awards of Merit ($200 each). Submissions must be high-quality JPEG files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images should show only the artwork itself without matting, frames, or background distractions, and must be oriented correctly. Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted by the entry deadline of February 15, 2023.
