About This Call
The 42nd Annual Whitewater Valley Art Competition, originating in 1978, invites artists to submit original work for juried consideration. Digital images of entered works will be shared in a live jurying session online via Zoom, with intervals scheduled for public interaction with the three-juror panel regarding acceptance or declination rationale. Jurors will select 50-55 works for the exhibit.
Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years or older and reside in Indiana or adjacent states of Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, or Michigan. All work must be original and cannot have been exhibited in previous Whitewater Valley Art Competitions. All visual art mediums except video and sound are allowed, including paintings, drawings, printmaking, digital artworks, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, textiles, installation, and mixed media. Artists may submit up to 3 separate art pieces, with the option of three different views per piece. Entry fee is $30 for up to 3 entries.
Awards: $4,000 total award money includes $2,000 for 1st place (plus 2021 Solo Exhibition Invitation), $1,000 for 2nd place, $500 for 3rd place, and two $250 Honorable Mention awards. A Purchase Award selected by Chancellor Kathryn Girten will be included in the Indiana University East Public Art Collection. Award winners receive additional special promotion. The artwork will be publicly juried on October 16, 2020, 10am-2pm via Zoom. Award winners will be announced October 23 via Facebook Live. The virtual exhibition runs October 23 – December 31 at https://www.iue.edu/gallery/. Entry deadline: Friday, October 2, 2020, 11:59pm. Submit via www.callforentry.org. Entry fees can be paid by calling the campus Bursar's Office at (765) 973-8345 Monday-Friday 9am-11am and 1pm-4pm, or by check/money order sent to: Indiana University East, c/o Nate Kuznia, Gallery Coordinator, 2325 Chester Blvd., Richmond, IN 47374, Attn: WVAC. By submitting work, artists grant permission to the IU East Art Gallery to reproduce accepted artwork for promotional uses in printed and electronic forms.
