42nd Annual Capitol Rotunda Show

The Idaho Watercolor Society invites entries for the 42nd Annual Capitol Rotunda Show, held at the 4th Floor Rotunda in the Idaho State Capitol Building (700 West Jefferson Street, Boise). This non-juried exhibition accepts entries on a first-come basis until the February 25, 2026 deadline or until the 75-painting limit is reached. IWS membership must be current before submitting an entry.

Artwork must be an original painting suitable for family viewing and primarily watercolor or gouache (at least 80% of the work). Paintings previously displayed in any past Rotunda Show are not eligible. Maximum outside width dimension is 32" including frame. Artwork may be framed under plexiglass or varnished and must be professionally framed with hanging wire only (no sawtooth hangers). Local entries should be delivered to the Capitol Building on Saturday, March 14, 2026 between 10am-Noon. Shipped entries must arrive by March 4, 2026 and should be sent to Carol H. Browning, 71 W Arnaz St., Meridian ID 83646. Pickup for local entries is Sunday, March 29, 2026 between 9am-10am; shipped paintings will be returned by mail.

An Artists' Reception will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 11am-2pm. The IWS will award four Visitor's Choice Awards determined by public ballot: First Place $200 cash, Second Place $100 cash, Third Place $100 merchandise award from BLICK Art Materials, and Fourth Place $50 merchandise award from The Merri Artist. Award-winning artworks will be featured in promotion for the following year's exhibition. If a sale is made, a 15% donation to Idaho Watercolor Society is suggested.
